Make sure you have an SMA/MCX adapter or an antenna you can use with your new order. If you have never used the web-based groups.io, it will offer to e-mail you a link. Since you normally use groups.io by e-mail, you might have to log in to the group to view the file. It covers both the Zadig program (for the driver) and Windows dump1090. Hi Ray, Richard (Hi Richard) just uploaded the easiest directions I have ever seen to the files section back on. I’ll bite the bullet and buy one and see what transpires.
PLANEPLOTTER MFC APPLICATION HAS CRASHED HOW TO
I am no good with programming and seeing posts about how to install things like windows dump and all the other RTL thingies put me off getting me one of those! Using Windows dump1090 it would provide beast type raw data on port 30005 which PP is more than happy to use. If it was me, I would just switch to something like a FlightAware Blue device for portable use. I also took another look at the user manual: Bottom line: I realize the GNS 5890 came out before the inexpensive dongles and is more expensive than the newer devices. GNS 58900 info is half-way down the page: 5. It also brought back memories of adsbScope.

It has some info on the three different hardware versions for the device. I took a trip down memory lane and visited the site below. Setup Comm port - You have already confirmed correct comm port and 115200 speed.
PLANEPLOTTER MFC APPLICATION HAS CRASHED SERIAL
Your PP settings seem to be correct: - I/O "AVR receiver" (for the USB serial connection" - Options. I can not find that it is specifically an "AVR" receiver, but suspect that is true.
PLANEPLOTTER MFC APPLICATION HAS CRASHED DRIVER
You seem to have already installed the driver since you have confirmed both the correct serial port number and speed 115,200. It uses a driver to create a virtual serial port.
PLANEPLOTTER MFC APPLICATION HAS CRASHED MANUAL
Longer answer: Yes, I reviewed the message history here and also looked again at the online info and user manual for your GNS 5890. Since the newer RTL devices mainly use SMA antenna connectors, you might also need to get a new portable antenna with that connector (or use an adapter) if you do not already have one. Hi Ray, (GNS 5890 receiver) Short answer with a bit of humor: I would purchase an inexpensive RTL device for portable use with your netbook.

I think I did ask Dan Henry regarding this last year without success. Has anyone on the group ever come across this/my problem and, if so, was there a solution? Now, the GNS receiver used to go under the AVR section in the input/output settings and also in Options/Mode-S receiver section.Īnother problem also appears when it comes up with Error opening AVR serial port even if the comms port number is set correctly and the date rate set to 115200. Unfortunately, just like what happened on a previous netbook, when I get the program to start, ie a black square instead of the green blob, the program crashes with the PlanePlotter MFC Application window saying it has stopped working. Having got another netbook and a new GNS 5890 receiver, I decided to install PlanePlotter so I could use it whilst mobile. Was running well on my Windows 10 PC, then suddenly it won't even show up.
